According to the Russian defense ministry, Ukraine launched eight drones against Moscow, but they were either shot down or silenced by electronic warfare equipment, causing them to veer away from their intended objectives. The mayor of the Russian capital stated that there were no injuries and just “minor” damage to structures as a result of the unusual attack. The defense ministry issued a statement saying, “This morning, the Kyiv regime launched a terrorist drone attack on targets in the city of Moscow.”
“Electronic warfare inhibited three of them, and they lost control and veered off course. The Pantsir-S surface-to-air missile system successfully destroyed five further drones in the Moscow area, the ministry reported. According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, numerous structures sustained minor damage during the early morning drone strike. Sobyanin later clarified that the two patients who sought medical attention were not in critical condition. Sobyanin said on the messaging app Telegram, “No one was hospitalized and the necessary assistance was provided on the spot.” Although drone assaults have grown increasingly prevalent across Russia, they have seldom targeted Moscow, which is more than 1,000 kilometers (620 miles) from Ukraine. The governor of the Moscow area, Andrei Vorobyov, had earlier reported that the drones were shot down as they approached Moscow via the Telegram channel app. Whoever launched the drones was not immediately apparent. According to local Russian media, a far higher number of drones were involved in the attack, according to Anton Gerashchenko, an adviser to Ukraine’s minister of internal affairs.
According to the Russian defense ministry, there were eight unmanned aircraft. According to Russian local media, there were 32 of them,” tweeted Gerashchenko with a video apparently showing a missile defense system in action in Moscow. Videos shared online also alleged to show drones flying above Moscow being shot down and the aftermath of an impact with a towering structure, with wreckage strewn on the ground. According to the Russian state news service RIA, several people living in a block on Profsoyuznaya Street in the southern part of Moscow were evacuated before the attack began.
